Player of the match performance from Suryakumar Yadav helps India to win the second T20I match against New Zealand in a low scoring match in Lucknow (29th January) and level the series 1-1 with one more match to go.

India 101 for 4 (Suryakumar 26*, Bracewell 1-13)

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, New Zealand only managed to score 99/8, their lowest total against India in a full-length T20I. Skipper Mitchell Santner scored the highest runs for New Zealand, unbeaten 19 in 23 balls. India used 7 bowlers: Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets for 7 runs in 2 overs, while Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Hooda and Kuldeep Yadav taking 1 wicket each.
Chasing a score of 100, India were 49/2 after the first 10 overs with both the openers were back in the pavilion. New Zealand bowlers managed to drag the match to the last over; however, Suryakumar Yadav hit a boundary in the penultimate delivery of the Innings to win the match for India. New Zealand used 8 bowlers, but only Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi managed to take a wicket each while India lost two more wickets for run-outs. Suryakumar Yadav scored unbeaten 26 in 31 deliveries.
The 3rd and the final match of the series will be held on 1st February in Ahmedabad.
