South Africa beats England by 5 wickets (with 5 balls remaining) in a high scoring match in Bloemfontein on 29th January to secure the series 2-0 with one more match to go.

After winning the toss, South Africa invited England to bat first. England managed to score 342/7 in 50 overs; courtesy of three half centuries from Harry Brook (80) , Jos Butler (94*) and Moeen Ali (51). There were 35 runs in extras in England’s Innings, including 19 wides. Anrich Nortje took 2 wickets for 64 runs in 9 overs.
Chasing a target of 343, South Africa reached home in the final over to win the series against England. More importantly, South Africa also gained 10 World Cup Super League points and move into ninth place on the table, just outside of the automatic qualification zone, with three matches left to play.
South Africa’s win was the highest successful chase in Bloemfontein and also South Africa’s third-highest in ODIs. Temba Bavuma scored his 3rd ODI hundred (109 in 102 balls), while David Miller scored unbeaten 58 in 37 balls. Aiden Markram missed his half century when he was deceived with a googly and bowled through the gate by Adhil Rashid for a well made 49 in 43 balls.
Olly Stone was impressive with the ball for England, taking 2 wickets for 48 in 10 overs, while Adhil Rashid also taking 2 wickets but for 72 runs. Temba Bavuma won the Player of the Match award for his well constructed century. The 3rd and final ODI (D/N) will be played on 1st February in Kimberley.
